The In-House eDiscovery Playbook: A Live Look at our new Corporate Suite

Your data's scattered, your vendors are billing, and your all-in-one tool isn't helping. Watch Logikcull run one real matter from hold to production, live.

Reveal’s Corporate Suite connects legal hold, preservation, collection, review, and production in one workflow, so in-house legal teams can run more of eDiscovery themselves. Corporate legal teams handle more data than ever, from Slack and Teams to every cloud app in the business and now AI platforms. In this live demo, the Reveal team walked through the full workflow and showed where in-house teams can cut cost and risk at each stage. Here’s what went down.

From Legal Hold to Production: One Connected Workflow

Laura Vieiro, Director of Product Marketing at Reveal, opened by defining a phrase that ran through the whole session: bringing eDiscovery in-house. That means running more of each stage with your own team instead of sending it to vendors and outside counsel, starting where it makes the biggest difference if you’re not ready to bring everything in at once. The suite splits the work across three purpose-built tools. Reveal Hold handles legal hold and preservation, Onna handles collection and culling, and Logikcull handles processing, search, review, and production.

Jeffrey Wolf, Senior Director of Technology Partnerships at Reveal, started with the question every legal team asks first. When a new matter comes in, how fast can someone get a hold notice out to custodians? “Extremely fast,” answered Bill Fenton, Strategic Sales Engineer, who then showed how Reveal Hold works:

  • Creating a hold takes two fields. You enter the hold name and the hold owner, which is the email address custodians see the notice come from.
  • Custodian lists stay current. Reveal Hold connects to Microsoft Entra ID, Google IdP, and Workday, so employee data updates in real time. You filter by email or department and add custodians in a few clicks.
  • Preservation starts when the hold goes out. Once IT connects sources like Box, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Slack during onboarding, legal can preserve data directly without filing a request with IT.

“This tool is extremely easy to use,” Bill said. “It is very streamlined, and it is very simple to set up, configure, and issue a legal hold.”

Where Cost Leaks, and What To Bring In-House First

Laura identified three places where eDiscovery costs leak for most in-house teams:

  • Over-collecting. When you wait on IT and can’t scope or cull on your own, you collect far more than the matter needs. Then you pay to process, host, and review data that never mattered.
  • Work that leaves the building. Every manual handoff adds delay and risk. Many routine matters end up with outside counsel or a service provider at their rates, even when your own team could handle them with the right tools.
  • Fragmented tools. Holds, collection, and review often sit in separate systems from separate vendors. That means multiple contracts and invoices for tools that don’t talk to each other, or an all-in-one platform that doesn’t handle any single stage particularly well.

At the close, Laura tied the workflow back to each leak. You cull data before it reaches review, so you stop paying for volume you never needed. “Your own team runs the process so routine matters can stay in house.” And it all sits under one vendor and one bill.

Not ready to bring everything in-house? Laura described a hybrid approach: handle legal hold, preservation, and collection in-house, and outsource only review. That puts targeted collection and a documented chain of custody in your team’s hands from day one.

How Each Team Benefits

Bill noted that evaluations usually include legal, IT, and sometimes records management. The suite gives each group something different:

  • Legal sends holds and runs collections without waiting on IT. Jeffrey shared a pattern he saw often in corporate work: legal makes a request, IT interprets it differently, and the back-and-forth breeds friction. Direct, authorized access removes that loop.
  • IT sets up each integration once during onboarding, with documented steps, then steps out of the day-to-day.
  • Custodians accept hold notices without logging in to any software. A self-service portal shows every hold they’re on and its status. Jeffrey called this especially useful for “frequent flyers” like the C-suite and product leads, who no longer need to ask legal for an updated list.
  • General counsel can defend the process on demand. A global audit log tracks when each custodian was added, when the hold was issued, and when it was accepted, and exports as a CSV or PDF. Prebuilt reports can be scheduled to arrive daily or weekly.

Collecting From Slack, Cloud Apps, and AI Tools

Onna can collect from 30+ direct connectors including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Confluence, Jira, and AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. Jeffrey noted that customer requests drove the AI connectors, as teams want those conversations and AI-generated content captured with the right metadata.

For Slack, you can choose direct messages, group messages, public and private channels, modern attachments, and external conversations, then pick specific users and channels. Once collected, Onna processes and indexes everything so you can search across sources in one place. Slack channels display in 24-hour blocks that show edits, deletions, and attachments in context.

That context matters more than it used to. “A thumbs up emoji in a Slack channel is a task approval,” Jeffrey said. In litigation, that single reaction could be the entire case. Onna stitches individual messages, reactions, and posts back into readable conversations that carry downstream into review.

From there, you can push documents straight into a Logikcull project or export a load file with natives and metadata for outside counsel’s preferred platform.

Moving to Review and Production

In Logikcull, creating a project takes one or two fields. Data arrives directly from Onna, through drag and drop (PSTs, zip files, loose PDFs), or through connectors like Slack and Google Vault. Logikcull then converts every document to PDF for redaction, runs OCR and email threading, and indexes everything automatically.

Prebuilt filters do much of the narrowing. With a couple of clicks, Bill took a project from 96,000 documents down to 3,300. Bulk keyword search lets you test hit counts before running searches and adjust terms as you go. Logikcull’s Ask AI also answers questions about your documents and points to the exact sources behind each answer, which Bill called a strong starting point for internal investigations.

For production, you choose a load file format, image type (PDF, TIFF, or JPEG), page number placement, natives, and redactions, and save any of it as a reusable template. Instead of downloading files and passing SFTP credentials around, you can send a secure share link, set how long the recipient has access, and track it in an audit log. “Super popular feature,” Bill said.

What This Means for In-House Legal Teams

In-house teams have a real chance to escape the check-writing treadmill of traditional eDiscovery. With the Corporate Suite:

  • Cost goes down. Culling before review means you stop paying to process and host data you don’t need.
  • Risk goes down. Fewer manual handoffs mean fewer gaps, and the audit log documents chain of custody from hold through collection.
  • Speed goes up. Legal issues holds, preserves data, and collects from Slack, Teams, and cloud apps without waiting on IT.

You move through the workflow without chasing data across systems or paying a middleman at every stage.

What’s Next?

Jeffrey addressed the elephant in the room: right now, these are three separate applications. Bill explained that each product was built to be best in class, and not every team needs all three. Single sign-on already lets users move between Reveal Hold, Onna, and Logikcull, and the team is building a unified interface for the full suite. As Jeffrey put it, customers get “one vendor relationship, one contract, one support team, and a single workflow from hold all the way to production.”
